Reinstatement is planned to follow 4 stages. The first, now completed, is the building of an Interim Cable Car Building at Mornington, at which three original cars (two grip cars and one trailer) are being stored. 
The second stage is the erection of a permanent Cable Car Building on the same site, which will house up to six cars, the cable driving equipment, a museum, and public facilities.
The third stage will be the installation of tracks and cabling from the Exchange to Mornington, following almost exactly the original route up High Street and alongside Eglinton Road. The fourth stage will be the commissioning of the service.
